Phil’s Faves: Videos, October 21, 2012

This will be a personal weekly Top Ten list of what I consider to be the best videos currently available on TV. I don’t, as a rule, go searching for old music videos, so that’s why it will focus mostly on current or recent videos. For this category, I am also going to include any live performances on talk or variety shows that I see during the week.

Easton Corbin stays on top for a second week, but there is much volatility on the list this week. The changing of the guard has begun……………………

Top 10 Videos and Performances for the week of October 21, 2012

1. Lovin’ You Is Fun—Easton Corbin
2. Beer Money—Kip Moore
3. Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye—Luke Bryan
4. Cruise—Florida Georgia Line
5. I Like Girls That Drink Beer—Toby Keith
6. Stars—Grace Potter & The Nocturnals
7. 50 Ways to Say Goodbye—Train
8. Everybody Talks—Neon Trees
9. She’s So Mean—Matchbox 20
10. Pontoon—Little Big Town

1) “Lovin’ You Is Fun”—Easton Corbin jumps into CMT’s Top Ten—finally! He’s going to be facing some major competition but right now things are looking up for him!
2) “Beer Money”—Hey now! I found a better reason to like this video than Kip Moore: His passenger in the truck changing into her jeans! Now that’s what music videos were made for!
3) “Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye”—Luke Bryan finally put together a package that works on all levels and he should get rewarded!
4) “Cruise”—Florida Georgia Line open their video with a beautiful girl in the water and then go cruising with her and her friend. Sometimes less of a plot is better than having one!
5) “I Like Girls That Drink Beer”—I have a feeling that beer is a factor in the videos above Toby Keith. He didn’t quite follow their lead with a good video, but the melody pulls this one through!
6) “Stars”—A killer song and vocal performance from Grace Potter but not much of a video…………..
7) “50 Ways to Say Goodbye”—Once again, I thought Train would be off my list but they continue to hang around. A good video will do that for you!
8) “Everybody Talks”—“Everybody Talks” but they’re not necessarily talking about Neon Trees. This video’s run is over, it’s only a matter of when…………..
9) “She’s So Mean”—A big fall for Matchbox 20. The end is near…………..
10) “Pontoon”—Probably the last week for Little Big Town…………………….
