“The River Jordan”–Lindsay Lou & The Flatbellys

When Lindsay Lou & The Flatbellys perform live, there are usually many showstoppers–the songs that just take your breath away. “The River Jordan” is my favorite one! This is a cover of a song written by May Erlewine, one of The Flatbellys’ “label mates.” The subject is a short river in northern lower Michigan that provided a spiritual experience for the writer. That’s exactly how I feel when I listen to their version of the song.

Although the sound quality of the video isn’t great, and the band has gotten even better performing it since it was recorded, this is as close as you can get to the song without seeing them live. I hope it’s on their next album, but this had to go up on my site.
