I stumbled upon Moms Mabley actually singing. I had no idea that she did this, so I had to play it. The feeling that she conveys is so stunning on a lot of levels. Here she is singing a very touching version of “Abraham, Martin, & John” on The Merv Griffin Show. (This one makes me cry.)
All in all, a fascinating year of musical discovery!!!
