“Q” Bombs: September 9, 2012

A “Q” Bomb, like an “H” bomb, will be my term for a music video that I consider to be subpar in music, video, or both. This will be a recurring weekly list that will focus on the worst videos that are currently on TV. I don’t, as a rule, go searching for old music videos, so that’s why it will focus on solely on current or recent videos.
I hate to be so negative about music, but when an artist takes a “bad” song and then brings more attention to it by creating a “bad” video to support it, it will appear on this list. I honestly hope, and it could happen, that this list will be less than 10 items, but I have serious doubts that that possibility will happen. We are, after all, talking about an industry that uses art for huge profits. The companies can’t help themselves.
However, at this point, I will not do a 10 worst music list. I see absolutely no reason to waste time reemphasizing bad music. Once is enough.

Rascal Flatts moves into the top spot, but I don’t think it’ll be for long. Their video and song doesn’t seem to be going over in a positive way………………..

Worst Videos for the week of September 9, 2012

1. Come Wake Me Up—Rascal Flatts
2. Cowboys and Angels—Dustin Lynch
3. Settle Down—No Doubt
4. As Long As You Love Me—Justin Bieber and Big Sean
5. Oh Love—Green Day
6. Wanted You More—Lady Antebellum
7. Blown Away—Carrie Underwood
8. Let’s Go—Calvin Harris and Ne-Yo
9. Miss Me—Andy Grammer
10. Ho Hey—The Lumineers

1) “Come Wake Me Up”Rascal Flatts are in their own world of boring videos and wimpy songs that they created years ago. That’s what made a song and video like “Banjo” stick out. Maybe “Come Wake Me Up” was made for their loyal fan base, but it’s flat out boring to me……………..
2) “Cowboys and Angels”—Dustin, I’m counting on you for better things to come because I like cowboys and angels. You’re out of the worst spot for now……………………..
3) “Settle Down”— Last week, No Doubt cracked VH1’s Top 20. I was perplexed. This week it fell like a rock. Faith in my video watchers has been restored…………….
4) “As Long As You Love Me”—Yeah, Justin’s not doing anything for me. No surprise here………………………
5) “Oh Love”—I wish I could say something positive about Green Day’s new video…but I can’t. I don’t think they would be disappointed with that assessment……………
6) “Wanted You More”—There’s a colorful butterfly in Lady Antebellum’s video which is supposed to be the visual thread to bring some hope into the presentation. It doesn’t work…………..
7) “Blown Away”Carrie Underwood returns to video form with her current offering. I give her credit for tackling the subject she chooses, but the melodramatic video does not work for me…………..
8) “Let’s Go”—Wow! A huge drop for Calvin Harris and Ne-Yo this week! Now it’s just a matter of time………………
9) “Miss Me”—I might just be having a reflex action to Andy Grammer’s video since I haven’t enjoyed any of his yet, but I kind of like the glow stick idea…….
10) “Ho Hey”—I guess mediocrity can have longevity…………………….. QQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQQ
