In the mid 80’s, there was a sudden interest in roots and world music which has continued to the present. One of the first bands to be in the right place at the right time was Los Lobos, from East LA. Here they are playing their signature song from their first EP, “Let’s Say Goodnight”:
By the end of the decade, The “Mexican Beatles”–Texas Tornados appeared on the scene. Freddy Fender, Flaco Jimenez, Augie Myers, and Doug Sahm do a super catchy song from their self titled debut album, “Who Were You Thinkin’ Of”:
Just recently, a new “kindie” album was released with an obvious flair for all things Latin. Here’s “If I Had a Mariachi” from “Uno, Dos, Tres Con Andres”:
