Radiothon 2023 With Judy Banker and Roger Ponder on Wednesday’s “Theme Attic,” 12PM-4PM EDT!!!

Another Radiothon season is here!
What’s Radiothon?
That’s the one time a year fundraiser that 89.3 WHFR.FM sets aside to ask our Loyal Listeners to help fund our station.
Let’s face it:
It’s a little awkward to ask for assistance to keep the station running, but that is how it keeps us on the airwaves!
And for that reason alone it is truly a Community Radio Station!
So, I will do my best to interest you to donate on Wednesday’s “Theme Attic” with Phil Maq, from 12PM-4PM EDT!
I will have some very special guests with me who believe in this initiative at least as much as I do!
Local Singer/Songwriter Judy Banker (my Favorite Banker!) will be assisting me for another year, and I can’t thank her enough for spending this time together!
Local Singer/Songwriter Roger Ponder will also be joining in the fun!
With both artists on board, the show will feature some kind of Songwriter Sessions along the way, and may even include yours truly!
There will be unique content!
World premieres!
And, hopefully, a lot of fun and frivolity!
We know that not everybody is in a position to donate.
For those whose load is heavy right now, we hope that the downturn is short, and that what we do can take your mind off your problems for a short while.
However, for those who are in a position to help, we humbly ask that you can make a donation and help us out!
Because the show will be kinda loose and spontaneous, I am not dividing any tags into sections this time.
All I will say is that there will be new released music: Dragon Inn 3 will start the show, and Sunnsetter with Guard Petal will close the show!
I have a Top 9 at 12:09 for this week’s Fave Songs, but it may take a while to complete it.
There will also be segments on upcoming Funky Rivertown Fest artists who will be coming up the rest of the week in Ypsilanti, Michigan!
Stats for the show: 2 artist debuts, 4 new releases, 14 artists with Southeast Michigan ties, 2 singles!!!
Pretty good for a somewhat spontaneous show!
So grab a phone or computer to make a donation, get a friend or two to listen with, and come along for Wednesday’s “Theme Attic” from 12PM-4PM EDT with Phil Maq!!!
OUR NEW ANTENNA AND TRANSMITTER MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO HEAR THE SHOW ALL OVER THE METRO DEARBORN-DETROIT AREA BY TUNING INTO 89.3 WHFR.FM!
However, you can also stream the show from the “listen live button” on the www.WHFR.FM website, by the TuneIn App, Simple Radio App, download the 89.3 WHFR.FM android app from our website homepage, or ask Alexa to find it for you!

Phil’s Faves: Albums, March 19, 2023

Over time, my listening habits have changed and at the moment I usually listen to albums completely through. I haven’t done that in years, but it’s actually very rewarding—particularly when the album is good. Every album that will be on this list will fit that category.

Songs from the albums on this list forms the basis of my countdown list for the “Top 9 at 2:09” segment of my “Theme Attic Show,” Wednesdays 12PM-4PM ET on mostly alternating weeks, along with my “Phil’s Faves, Songs” lists!

The show can be heard on WHFR 89.3 FM in the Dearborn-Detroit area of Michigan, or it can be streamed with this link: https://www.whfr.fm/streamer/!

It’s another peak into my listening habits—which is a goal of mine. If you want to know where I’m heading or what I think about some new music, you will find it here.

I honestly don’t expect there to be much volatility on this list because these albums are what I have been basing many of the sets on my show.

Once again, there will be no boundaries. I will go wherever my musical muse takes me.

Phil’s Faves: Songs, March 19, 2023

This is a weekly Top Ten list of what I consider to be the best songs that I listened to the previous week. Most songs will be current, but there are no boundaries. I’ve already stated on this web site that I am obsessed with music. I am constantly hunting it down whether it’s online, on CD, from my personal collection, from a library (Yes, I think the library is a great source of music–especially for music that you aren’t sure about.), TV, or radio. Since most of these sources mostly emphasize new music, the odds are pretty good that most of the songs on this list will be new. But in my search, I don’t use any boundaries for the other sources. I am just looking for good music that I haven’t heard, or happened to forget about. Everyone, including myself, has forgotten way more great music than they can ever remember-even if they are also music fanatics.

Also, there will be no rules concerning songs on this list. A song can show up or drop off a number of times. This will be the most volatile of my lists. It all depends on how much music I am exposed to during the week and what I find interesting. On really obscure stuff, I will try to include the source, if I know it.

Most of the songs heard on this list have been played on my radio show, Theme Attic,” heard Wednesdays 12PM-4PM ET!

International Women’s Day and The 2023 Winter New Music Showcase 2.75 on Wednesday’s “Theme Attic,” 12PM-4PM EST!!!

I’m not sure what is the correct way to convey that message, but I want to send good vibes and a Thank You to all of the women that have helped me and have been an inspiration to me so far on my earthly journey!
For Wednesday’s “Theme Attic” with Phil Maq from 12PM-4PM EST, that means that there will be a total immersion into female artists and their wonderful, musical gifts!
I’m also trying to catch up on my new music showcases, so the show will also be The 2023 Winter New Music Showcase 2.75!
Why 2.75?
Well, I thought I would have three hours or so of new music plus the expected Top 9 at 2:09 album countdown like I would on a normal showcase, yet still allow me an hour’s worth of personal favorites!
However, an hour is nowhere near what I would need!
And four hours isn’t enough either, but it’s the best I can do this time around,
Stats are really good, too!: 22 artist debuts, 26 new releases, 11 artists with Southeast Michigan ties, 17 singles!
I will divide the tags into sections, but they will only be an estimate.
I can’t guarantee that everything will fit into those slots, but I will try very hard to stick to them!
And…they are NOT in chronological order.
