“Q” Bombs: December 11, 2011

A “Q” Bomb, like an “H” bomb, will be my term for a music video that I consider to be subpar in music, video, or both. This will be a recurring weekly list that will focus on the worst videos that are currently on TV. I don’t, as a rule, go searching for old music videos, so that’s why it will focus on solely on current or recent videos.
I hate to be so negative about music, but when an artist takes a “bad” song and then brings more attention to it by creating a “bad” video to support it, it will appear on this list. I honestly hope, and it could happen, that this list will be less than 10 items, but I have serious doubts that that possibility will happen. We are, after all, talking about an industry that uses art for huge profits. The companies can’t help themselves.
However, at this point, I will not do a 10 worst music list. I see absolutely no reason to waste time reemphasizing bad music. Once is enough.

Brad Paisley & Carrie Underwood catapult to the top of the trash heap again for a fourth week based on a resurgence on the CMT Top 20 Countdown. The Civil Wars return after disappearing for five straight weeks! What’s going on? Is Mercury in retrograde or something…………………………….

1. Remind Me—Brad Paisley with Carrie Underwood
2. It Will Rain—Bruno Mars from “Breaking Dawn, Part One”
3. Footloose–Blake Shelton
4. God Gave Me You–Blake Shelton
5. Shake It Off–Florence + The Machine
6. Poison and Wine—The Civil Wars
7. Easy–Rascal Flatts with Natasha Bedingfield
8. Wish You Were Here-Avril Lavigne

10. It Girl–Jason Derulo

1) “Remind Me” —This one leaped up nine spots on the CMT Top 20 Countdown???!!! It’s now number 3 again. That’s why it’s at the top of the bomb list. It launched a sneak attack when we weren’t watching it……………………..
2) “It Will Rain”—This one is number 4 on The VH1 Top 20 Video Countdown. I hope it is a “bear” video and will drop fast………..
3) “Footloose”—Viewers are showing some unusual good taste because this song is not catching on and is starting to fall……………..
4) “God Gave Me You”—I’m actually starting to like this song, but the video still looks like one that Nickelback might have done. That is NOT a compliment……………
5) “Shake It Off”—This one actually went up this week on VH1–again. Why??????
6) “Poison & Wine”—I thought this one had run its course. It’s not on either countdown, but CMT is starting to show it—A LOT! That is definitely a cause for concern…………
7) “Easy”— Apparently, falling off the chart is not so “easy”…………………
8] “Wish You Were Here”—Boo hoo! Avril cries a lot and wants us to feel sorry for her. She makes a better crazy chick than someone I should feel sorry for……………………
9) “Let Go”—Please “let go”…and disappear………………..
10) “It Girl”—It finally looks like this one should be gone next week. My fingers are crossed………………
