“Q” Bombs: July 15, 2012

A “Q” Bomb, like an “H” bomb, will be my term for a music video that I consider to be subpar in music, video, or both. This will be a recurring weekly list that will focus on the worst videos that are currently on TV. I don’t, as a rule, go searching for old music videos, so that’s why it will focus on solely on current or recent videos.
I hate to be so negative about music, but when an artist takes a “bad” song and then brings more attention to it by creating a “bad” video to support it, it will appear on this list. I honestly hope, and it could happen, that this list will be less than 10 items, but I have serious doubts that that possibility will happen. We are, after all, talking about an industry that uses art for huge profits. The companies can’t help themselves.
However, at this point, I will not do a 10 worst music list. I see absolutely no reason to waste time reemphasizing bad music. Once is enough.

Eric Church, NOT Springsteen is No.1 on the trash heap. I repeat: Eric Church, NOT Springsteen is No.1 on the trash heap……………………….

Worst Videos for the week of July 15, 2012

1. Springsteen—Eric Church
2. Drunk on You—Luke Bryan
3. 5-1-5-0—Dierks Bentley
4. Payphone—Maroon 5 with Wiz Khalifa
5. Scream—Usher
6. Let’s Go—Calvin Harris and Ne-Yo
7. Cowboys and Angels—Dustin Lynch
8. Ho Hey—The Lumineers
9. Wanted—Hunter Hayes
10. Titanium—David Guetta and Sia

1) “Springsteen”—OK. I never wanted this Eric Church video to be at the top of the Q-Bombs list, but when CMT put it on top of their list, I had to do it……
2) “Drunk on You”—I can’t believe that Luke Bryan has put out a hat trick of three awful videos that have been around for a year…and that his popularity is as high as ever. ODWITS!
3) “5-1-5-0”Dierks Bentley is climbing but I still feel the same………………
4) “Payphone”—Brother can you spare a dime…or a good Maroon 5 video……….
5) “Scream”—In the video, Usher takes off his suit jacket. Riveting………………..
6) “Let’s Go” Calvin Harris drops down but only because of the awful videos above it…
7) “Cowboys and Angels”Dustin Lynch contributes another washed out and faded color video to a gigantic pile that reaches to the sky. There might be an OK song here, but I find it hard to watch the video…………………………………..
8) “Ho Hey”—I really hate to pick on The Lumineers but…the crowd of people in the video look like they were forced to look like they’re having fun—and the song isn’t that good……….
9) “Wanted” Hunter Hayes is still on the bad list, but I’m starting to lose interest writing about it…………….
10) “Titanium”David Guetta’s video is hanging around a lot longer than I thought it would…………………….
