“Q” Bombs; October 28, 2012

A “Q” Bomb, like an “H” bomb, will be my term for a music video that I consider to be subpar in music, video, or both. This will be a recurring weekly list that will focus on the worst videos that are currently on TV. I don’t, as a rule, go searching for old music videos, so that’s why it will focus on solely on current or recent videos.
I hate to be so negative about music, but when an artist takes a “bad” song and then brings more attention to it by creating a “bad” video to support it, it will appear on this list. I honestly hope, and it could happen, that this list will be less than 10 items, but I have serious doubts that that possibility will happen. We are, after all, talking about an industry that uses art for huge profits. The companies can’t help themselves.
However, at this point, I will not do a 10 worst music list. I see absolutely no reason to waste time reemphasizing bad music. Once is enough.

The same guilty culprits stay on the list for another week, but Taylor Swift makes a bold move to the top and she did it all in one take……………..

Worst Videos for the week of October 28, 2012

1. We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together—Taylor Swift
2. Too Close—Alex Clare
3. Come Wake Me Up—Rascal Flatts
4. Ho Hey—The Lumineers
5. Blown Away—Carrie Underwood
6. Cowboys and Angels—Dustin Lynch
7. Hall of Fame—The Script and Wil.i.am
8. As Long As You Love Me—Justin Bieber and Big Sean
9. Walk the Sun—Anna Moon
10. Good Time—Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen

1) “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together”—Almost off the countdown on CMT (#19), Taylor Swift hits #1 on VH1. If it had gone away quietly, I would have left the video alone. But no more. ODWITS!
2) “Too Close”—Alex Clare’s video and song are moving way “too close” to the top on VH1 (#4)…………………………..
3) “Come Wake Me Up”—Rascal Flatts has Taylor Swift to thank for kicking them out of the “top of the bottom feeders” slot……………..
4) “Ho Hey”—Another week of moving up on VH1’s Top Ten. The people dancing in the video don’t even really look like they’re having fun…………………
5) “Blown Away”—Carrie Underwood is still runner up on CMT, but other annoying videos push her down on my list………..
6) “Cowboys and Angels”—Dustin Lynch…………………….Yeah. Whatever…………….
7) “Hall of Fame”—The Script are so far removed from a Hall of Fame with this video and song………………
8) “As Long As You Love Me”—Justin Bieber appears to be wearing out his welcome on VH1. Finally……………………
9) “Walk the Sun”—Anna Moon continues to hang around. Maybe they need to literally “walk the sun”……………………….
10) “Good Time”—Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen slip a little on VH1. Well, it’s about time……………..
