“Q” Bombs: May 12, 2013

A “Q” Bomb, like an “H” bomb, will be my term for a music video that I consider to be subpar in music, video, or both. This will be a recurring weekly list that will focus on the worst videos that are currently on TV. I don’t, as a rule, go searching for old music videos, so that’s why it will focus on solely on current or recent videos.
I hate to be so negative about music, but when an artist takes a “bad” song and then brings more attention to it by creating a “bad” video to support it, it will appear on this list. I honestly hope, and it could happen, that this list will be less than 10 items, but I have serious doubts that that possibility will happen. We are, after all, talking about an industry that uses art for huge profits. The companies can’t help themselves.
However, at this point, I will not do a 10 worst music list. I see absolutely no reason to waste time reemphasizing bad music. Once is enough.

Lee Brice returns to the “top of the bottom” for the third (?) time as Rihanna falls from the top spot on VH1………….

Worst Videos for the week of May 12, 2013

1. I Drive Your Truck—Lee Brice
2. Feel This Moment—Pitbull and Christina Aguilera
3. Stay—Rihanna with Mikky Echo
4. 1994—Jason Aldean
5. When I Was Your Man—Bruno Mars
6. Stubborn Love—The Lumineers
7. I Love It—Icona Pop with Charli XCX
8. Hey Pretty Girl—Kip Moore
9. Wildest Moments—Jessie Ware
10. Lego House—Ed Sheeran

1) “I Drive Your Truck”—It would be fine with me if Lee Brice drove the truck right off this countdown……………
2) “Feel This Moment”—I “feel” that the only reason Pitbull and Christina Aguilera are having such a big hit from this song is the “Take on Me” track by A-Ha that the song is built upon. That hook is already embedded in everyone’s subconscious and it triggers a positive response from the listener. But I refuse to be tricked……………….
3) “Stay”—Ah, a very short stay at the top for Rihanna. GREAT! Anyway, that bathwater has to be very old by now………………………………………
4) “1994”—Oh, I don’t remember 1994 being as bad as Jason Aldean’s song………..
5) “When I Was Your Man”—Bruno Mars was “the man” on Rolling Stone magazine recently. That still doesn’t change my opinion of this video and song………..
6) “Stubborn Love”—Well. I guess The Lumineers are going to be “stubborn” about going away…………….
7) “I Love It”—I’m sure that Icona Pop would like to think they’re this year’s Carly Rae Jepsen. Unfortunately, they’re this year’s Karmin. Who? Oh, yeah…………………..
8) “Hey Pretty Girl”—I guess I like Kip Moore’s faster songs more than his slow ones……………………..
9) “Wildest Moments”—Wow. You can’t tell that from Jessie Ware’s video………
10) “Lego House”—I think I would rather watch someone building a Lego House than watch Ed Sheeran’s video………………..
