“Q” Bombs: June 23, 2013

A “Q” Bomb, like an “H” bomb, will be my term for a music video that I consider to be subpar in music, video, or both. This will be a recurring weekly list that will focus on the worst videos that are currently on TV. I don’t, as a rule, go searching for old music videos, so that’s why it will focus on solely on current or recent videos.
I hate to be so negative about music, but when an artist takes a “bad” song and then brings more attention to it by creating a “bad” video to support it, it will appear on this list. I honestly hope, and it could happen, that this list will be less than 10 items, but I have serious doubts that that possibility will happen. We are, after all, talking about an industry that uses art for huge profits. The companies can’t help themselves.
However, at this point, I will not do a 10 worst music list. I see absolutely no reason to waste time reemphasizing bad music. Once is enough.

“I Love It” (Man, do I hate saying that!), returns to the top of the bad list. Ironically, three bombs dropped off this week, but were quickly replaced…………….

Worst Videos for the week of June 23, 2013

1. I Love It—Icona Pop with Charli XCX
2. 1994—Jason Aldean
3. Mirrors—Justin Timberlake
4. Heart Attack—Demi Lovato
5. Lego House—Ed Sheeran
6. Stompa—Serena Ryder
7. My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light ‘Em Up)—Fall Out Boy
8. Just Give Me a Reason—P!nk with Nate Reuss of fun.
9. Blurred Lines—Robin Thicke with T.I. and Pharrell
10. Done—The Band Perry

1) “I Love It”—I had a feeling it would only be a matter of time before Icona Pop and Charli XCX made it back to the top spot. You can only push the garbage down so many times before it pops back on top.
2) “1994”—You know, 1994 was a lot more fun than this Jason Aldean video and song…….
3) “Mirrors”—Justin Timberlake is #1 on VH1 this week, but I can’t help but feel there’s something else in this video that hasn’t hit me yet………..
4) “Heart Attack”—Ho, hum. Demi Lovato. Screechy song…………….
5) “Lego House”—A house built out of Legos shouldn’t hang around this long………..
6) “Stompa”—Whata???
7) “My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light ‘Em Up)”—I’ve tried to avoid putting Fall Out Boy on this list because of that almost always present tricky song title, but the time has come………….
8) “Just Give Me a Reason”—…why P!nk and Nate Reuss continue to torture us by hanging around………….
9) “Blurred Lines”—I continue to have misgivings about Robin Thicke’s video. The song is OK, the women are “cute,” but it doesn’t seem to be “good” or “sexy” enough either way…………………………..
10) “Done”—The Band Perry roll on with a “paint by numbers” video…………
