I can’t believe that I was lucky enough to have a second interview with Jean-Luc Ponty, the phenomenal words alone can’t describe jazz violinist who will be returning on August 15th to his favorite Detroit location, Chene Park!
I think the interview sounds looser as we revisit memories of his earliest recording sessions in the string section with Paul Mauriat, the pre Frank Zappa days of jamming with The George Duke Trio, and touching on some of the many stars he has collaborated with like Stanley Clarke, Al DiMeola, Tony Williams, Ray Parker, Jr., Ralphe Armstrong, and Alan Holdsworth!
We even spend some time talking about “monsters!”
It’s a lot of fun, and I am happy to present Pt.1 of this interview, that I have added musical selections to for providing the master at his craft!
PT. 2 will be aired next Wednesday, August 15th!
