That is the unusual first line of today’s tune “Not About You” by Joanna and The Jaywalkers from their “The Open Sea Before Me” album.
It’s an unusual turn of phrase from this Ypsilanti, Michigan band.
Or is it?
Joanna and The Jaywalkers develop their sea legs on an album with several nautical or maritime references, including the album artwork.
The cello gives the band an anchor to stabilize the baroque pop sound of “Not About You!”
The melody is catchy, and the song kicks into a higher gear when the drums are added!
Using some ambiguous phrases and quirky spacing, leaves the song open to some interesting…interpretations!
Both the album and song are on my current Faves lists!
