Suitest Day

So what is “Suitest Day?”
Well, tune in to “Theme Attic” this Wednesday with Phil Maq, from 12PM-4PM EDT to find out!!!
For the uninformed, “Suitest Day” is my take on “Sweetest Day.”
Rather than have another Valentine’s Day type show, I decided to swap out some letters and devote a show to pay tribute to longer pieces, 5 minutes or more, including some that fit the definition of the musical “suite.”
And, as a nod to the weekend holiday, there will also be some “sweet” songs.
Well, at least “sweet” will be featured in the songs.
Don’t worry if you are scared off by the idea of long, boring pieces.
Or ones with audience participation that waste time.
I don’t like those either.
Actually, not that many selections will be really long.
And don’t forget that a suite can be made up of several interconnected, and sometimes, short sections!
I think it’s a nice mixture of tunes if I have to say so myself!
Throw in a “Top 9 at 2:09” Album Countdown and a regular listener may not even notice the difference!
Stats for this week’s show are 7 artists debuts, 9 songs from new releases, and 10 artists with Southeast Michigan ties!
I will divide the tags into sections, but they will only be an estimate.
I can’t guarantee that everything will fit into those slots, but I will try very hard to stick to them!
However, they are NOT in chronological order.
Songs by artists between 12PM-2:09PM EDT should include brand new St. Lucia (They are playing Saint Andrew’s Hall in Detroit this Saturday! Their album cover for “Utopia” is on the right in the banner!), Matthew French, Makoto Horiuchi, Voxanna (They are playing 20 Front Street in Lake Orion, Michigan Thursday Night! Billy Brandt), brand new Nation of Language, The WildRoots, Wild Ponies (They are playing Trinity House Theatre in Livonia, Michigan this Saturday! Telisha Williams), new Mildlife, Eddie Arjun (Eddie Arjun Peters), Narcotic Wasteland (They are playing The Token Lounge in Westland, Michigan this Saturday!), brand new Todd Rundgren (His new album “Space Force” is second from the right in the banner!), Gathering Time, Transit Method, Saskatchewan All Star Big Band (Their album cover for “Saskatchewan Suite” is in the lower left corner of the banner!), Nina & The Buffalo Riders (They are playing PJ’s Lager House this Friday! (The Snozzberries/Act Casual/Nina & The Buffalo Riders at PJ’s Lager House Nina Sofia), and more!!!
Songs by artists from 2:09PM-4PM EDT should include Territorial Chant, Gerard Smith, The Legal Matters (Chris Richards, Keith Klingensmith), brand new Taleen Kali (Taleen Kali), Michael J. Miles (Michael J. Miles), The Accidentals, Jon Shain, new Crossword Smiles (Chipper Saam, Tom Curless, Big Stir Records), Dan Hazlett (Dan Hazlett), Mary Ann Kirt, Flora ElmColone (Ron Colone), Becki Digregorio, Renaissance (Their album cover for “Turn of the Cards” is in the upper left corner of the banner!), The Empty Pockets, June Star, and more!!! (Plenty more for both sets!!!)
So grab a pumpkin spicy something and a pen and paper to take some notes, get a friend or two to listen or share with, and come along for the ride on this Wednesday’s “Theme Attic” from 12PM-4PM EDT with Phil Maq!
