There really isn’t much that needs to be said for this month’s Full Moon Tune: “Marquee Moon” by Television!

The ten minute title track arrived (1977), at a time when punk was still exploding on the music scene.

While most punk songs would barely last two minutes, how could a melodic guitar jam that lasted ten minutes be considered punk?

Who cares?!

One of the main characteristics of punk is attitude.

So, if Tom Verlaine felt like he wanted to riff on his guitar while spitting out some lyrics, I think the criteria was reached.

At least on some levels.

To reiterate, nothing more needs to be said and the song has stood the test of time, influencing many guitarists over the decades since its release.
