The Philbys Return!: Hot 100 Songs of 2023 Countdown #40-21, Wednesday 12PM-4PM EDT!!!

It’s been a while since I’ve done a Philby show, so…let’s do one!
A Philby is my online award for “brilliant musical achievement!”
I will begin counting down the Philby Top 40 Hot 100 Songs on Wednesday’s “Theme Attic” with host Phil Maq from 12PM-4PM EDT!!!
Of course the Philby show will have another Countdown, this week’s Top 9 at 12:09 Fave Albums!
There may even be a couple of world premieres featuring me after the Philby section is completed!
Stats are amazing!: 3 new artists, 3 new releases, 2 world premieres, 25 artists with Southeast Michigan ties, 3 singles!!!
Since I am doing my best to avoid any confusion with who the Philby winners are, this is the only place I will mention the winners in this post.
Any other info for other parts of the show will eventually appear in the comments section.
The Philbys will start around 1:05 PM EDT!
Congratulations to all!!!
So, grab a refreshing beverage, get a friend or two to listen with, and come along for Wednesday’s “Theme Attic” from 12PM-4PM EDT with Phil Maq!!!

Phil’s Faves: Albums, May 12, 2024

Over time, my listening habits have changed and at the moment I usually listen to albums completely through. I haven’t done that in years, but it’s actually very rewarding—particularly when the album is good. Every album that will be on this list will fit that category.

Songs from the albums on this list forms the basis of my countdown list for the “Top 9 at 2:09” segment of my “Theme Attic Show,” Wednesdays 12PM-4PM ET on mostly alternating weeks, along with my “Phil’s Faves, Songs” lists!

The show can be heard on WHFR 89.3 FM in the Dearborn-Detroit area of Michigan, or it can be streamed with this link: https://www.whfr.fm/streamer/!

It’s another peak into my listening habits—which is a goal of mine. If you want to know where I’m heading or what I think about some new music, you will find it here.

I honestly don’t expect there to be much volatility on this list because these albums are what I have been basing many of the sets on my show.

Once again, there will be no boundaries. I will go wherever my musical muse takes me.

There’s plenty of other musical things to browse!

A list that you might find interesting is my list for “The Most Awesomest Songs of the Day”: https://philmaq.com/most-awesomest-songs/!

If you’d like to know what I think are even better than the awesome songs, have a look at “The Greatest Songs Ever Recorded”:https://philmaq.com/the-greatest-songs-ever-recorded/! Occasionally, an “awesome song” crosses over to become a “Greatest Song!”

My somewhat unusual Hall of Fame can be explored here: https://philmaq.com/hall-of-fame/!

Lastly, but most importantly, is my Philby Awards link! A Philby is my annual award for brilliant musical achievement! https://philmaq.com/philbys/!

Weddings and Graduations on Wednesday’s “Theme Attic,” 12PM-4PM EDT!!!

I usually do some variation of this show in June.
Well, sometimes people get married in May, so Wednesday’s “Theme Attic” with host Phil Maq from 12PM-4PM EDT will feature Weddings and Graduations!
I will have a wide range of musical treats that will probably weave in and out of the two subjects!
A Top 9 at 2:09 PM Countdown of this week’s Fave Songs will add to the fun!
14 artists with Southeast Michigan will make things even funner!
Hazow!
I will divide the tags into sections, but they will only be an estimate.
I can’t guarantee that everything will fit into those slots, but I will try very hard to stick to them!
However…they are NOT in sequential order. (I often make changes during the show!)
Songs by artists from 12PM-2:09 PM EDT should include JL Fulks, Our Girl, Roger Ponder, Kenny Young and the Eggplants (Kenny Young), Gary Browe Music (Gary Browe), Kelly’s Lot (Kelly Zirbes), Michael on Fire, and many more!!!
So, grab a tassel and some tissue, get a friend to listen with, and come along for Wednesday’s “Theme Attic” from 12PM-4PM EDT with Phil Maq!!!

The Sescentorum Show on Wednesday’s “Theme Attic,” 12PM-4PM EDT!!!

Show #600
Man, that is a large number!
I had to call it something special because there is something to be said about doing something six hundred times.
So, of course, I went back to Latin and Wednesday’s “Theme Attic” with host Phil Maq from 12PM-4PM EDT will be known as The Sescentorum Show!
Nifty, eh?
And to celebrate, I will be reaching for some deep cuts of fun!
On this show, I intend to celebrate Mom with a few songs, and then we all go for a ride from “Lonelyville” to the “Top of the World!”
And for even more listening pleasure, there will be a Top 9 at 2:09 EDT of this week’s Fave Albums!
There will be several surprises and memories, too!
Plus 10 artists with Southeast Michigan ties!
I will divide the tags into sections, but they will only be an estimate.
I can’t guarantee that everything will fit into those slots, but I will try very hard to stick to them!
However…they are NOT in sequential order. (I often make changes during the show!)
Songs by artists from 12PM-2:09 PM EDT should include
Helen O’Shea Music (Helen O’Shea), Randall Kromm (Randall Kromm), Bill Edwards, Cornell Kinderknecht Music (Cornell Kinderknecht), Greg Chako Music (Greg Chako) (His new album cover for “Standard Roots” is in the lower left corner of the banner!), The Romantics, DeeCRACKS, Connie Smith (Her new album cover is on the right side of the banner!), Mick Kolassa (Mick Kolassa), Laura Carbone (Laura Carbone)(The album cover for new album, “The Cycle,”is second from the left in the banner!), John Denver, Dave Dudley Fans, and more!!!
