Denny Laine Checks into Wednesday’s Theme Attic for an Interview, 10AM-12PM EDT!!!

(Sung to the tune of “Penny Lane”) “So, Denny Laine will be a guest on my show today!”

Ok, you can stop singing.

If you can!

Denny Laine is coming to town next month for a show at The Magic Bag in Ferndale!

In case you think you don’t know him, think again!

He was a part of a band with Paul McCartney, and Linda McCartney known as Wings for ten years!!!

So, no, it wasn’t just Paul McCartney.

Denny sang lead on many of the biggest albums in the world during this stretch including “Band on the Run” and “London Town” and co-wrote several songs with Sir Paul. And we’re not even talking about his days with The MOODY BLUES, or Ginger Baker’s Air Force as well as others!

The interview is set up for 11:00 AM EDT, and sometimes these things don’t happen, but I have faith!

Before that will be a “Top 9 at 10:09” countdown of songs by featured artists Ryan LinkRoger Clyne & The PeacemakersDiana Chittester, Donny Brown (Futureman Records), Katy Guillen and The GirlsTHE DIRK KROLL BANDBilly Brandt & Sarana VerLinThe Vegabonds, and Andy Santana Bass and West Coast Playboys!!! It’s the Annual Earth Day Show, Monday Night, 8PM-10PM EDT!!!

Well, now. I found someone who wants to accompany me on my Earth Day journey on Monday night’s “Prime Time Theme Attic” with Phil Maq from 8PM-10PM EDT!
Singer/songwriter Nick Juno music (Nick Juno) will make an appearance around the campfire,so I won’t be visiting Mt. Dearborn alone!
There’s still room for another person or two so if you can let me know, I’ll put you on the list. Regardless, I will have plenty of music to also highlight the Earth Day theme.
Come on along for the ride and tune in to 89.3 FM (89.3 WHFR.FM in the Dearborn-Detroit area, stream it anywhere in the world with this special marshmallow link : https://whfr.fm/streamer/ (Press the “Listen Live Now” button), or use TuneIn Player or RadioFM to stream it.

Last Call for Earth Day Guests on “Prime Time Theme Attic, Monday Night, 8PM-10PM EDT!!!

Well, I may not get my dream of having a digital campfire singalong this year, so I’m throwing the doors open to anyone who would like to be a guest on my special Earth Day  Monday night “Prime Time Theme Attic” from 8PM-10PM EDT!!!

I will be playing music with themes about nature and the earth, but if you have a strong feeling yourself about the planet, I have a seat for you in my digital car. You don’t have to even be a musician. Just someone who wants to talk about nature and music.

That’s it.

There isn’t a pledge drive this week.

Anyway, here is my original post for you to read. Either way, I will be there!:

I don’t know if this is a good idea or not, but I guess I’ll find out.

Every year, I do an Earth Day show to celebrate the wonder of Mother Earth.

Typically, I spend the day doing a remote from magnificent Mt. Dearborn, and visit Angel Falls as well as some of the open meadows on the road towards the summit.

Well, this year Earth Day falls on a Monday.

Monday April 22 to be exact.

I am trying to find out if any one would like to lead a sing-a-long on next Monday’s “Prime Time Theme Attic.”

I need at least someone with a guitar who knows a few sing-a-long songs and maybe make some digital smores around a digital campfire at one of the several campgrounds in Mt. Dearborn Park. I intend to play some recorded music for Earth Day, but that is open to discussion.

I am looking for other singers, and you don’t have to be professional. If you do this on your own front porch or in your own backyard, you might be who I want.

But I also need others to sing along.

I don’t know if this will work, but I guess the responses will let me know.

If you have questions, please e-mail me.

Phil’s Faves: Albums, April 14, 2019

Over time, my listening habits have changed and at the moment I usually listen to albums completely through. I haven’t done that in years, but it’s actually very rewarding—particularly when the album is good. Every album that will be on this list will fit that category.

Songs from the albums on this list forms the basis of my countdown list for the “Top 9 at 9:09” segment of my “Prime Time Theme Attic Show,” (Mondays, 8P-10P ET) on alternating weeks, along with my “Phil’s Faves, Songs” lists!

They may also turn up on my “Theme Attic Show,” (Wednesdays, 10A-12N ET)

Here’s a link:

https://whfr.fm/streamer/

It’s another peak into my listening habits—which is a goal of mine. If you want to know where I’m heading or what I think about some new music, you will find it here.

I honestly don’t expect there to be much volatility on this list because these albums are what I have been basing many of the sets on my show.

Once again, there will be no boundaries. I will go wherever my musical muse takes me.

Phil’s Faves: Songs, April 14, 2019

This is a weekly Top Ten list of what I consider to be the best songs that I listened to the previous week. Most songs will be current, but there are no boundaries. I’ve already stated on this web site that I am obsessed with music. I am constantly hunting it down whether it’s online, on CD, from my personal collection, from a library (Yes, I think the library is a great source of music–especially for music that you aren’t sure about.), TV, or radio. Since most of these sources mostly emphasize new music, the odds are pretty good that most of the songs on this list will be new. But in my search, I don’t use any boundaries for the other sources. I am just looking for good music that I haven’t heard, or happened to forget about. Everyone, including myself, has forgotten way more great music than they can ever remember-even if they are also music fanatics.

Also, there will be no rules concerning songs on this list. A song can show up or drop off a number of times. This will be the most volatile of my lists. It all depends on how much music I am exposed to during the week and what I find interesting. On really obscure stuff, I will try to include the source, if I know it.

Most of the songs heard on this list have been played on my radio shows, “Theme Attic,” heard Wednesdays, 10A-12N ET, or “Prime Time Theme Attic,” heard Mondays, 8P-10P ET!

This list forms the basis of my countdown list on the “Top 9 at 9:09” segment of my “Prime Time Theme Attic Show” on alternating weeks, along with my “Phil’s Faves, Albums” lists!

It’s Wayback Wednesday on Theme Attic, 10AM-12PM EDT!!!

So, every now and then, someone posts a WKNR Record Guide.

Sally O’Mally Schroeder recently posted one for April 2, 1964. I had too many other shows planned at that time, but I always find these lists intriguing for what I don’t know or have forgotten. On Wednesday morning’s “Theme Attic” with Phil Maq from 10AM-2PM EDT, I have decided to add a song or two by other artists because I always like to play something newer. I have added a song by The Show Ponies just to make myself crazier to try to fit it all in.

Come on along for the ride to relive some classic tunes or to see if I fit them all in. Tune in to 89.3 FM (89.3 WHFR.FM) in the Dearborn-Detroit area, stream it anywhere in the world with this special wayback link : https://whfr.fm/streamer/ (Press the “Listen Live Now” button), or use TuneIn Player or RadioFMto stream it.
