Eddy Mitchell’s “Quelque Chose a Change”: A Very Good Video for Today’s Fiftieth Anniversary of the Assassination of Martin Luther King, Jr.!!!

French “big band” artist, Eddy Mitchell has a very moving video for his song “Quelque Chose a Change!” (It means something has changed!)

I stumbled upon this song and played it on my show today. I think the video deserves some exposure, too, for this bittersweet anniversary. It demonstrates that the impact of Martin Luther King, Jr. has world wide attention!

Johnny Iguana of The Claudettes Talks with “Theme Attic” and We Remember Martin Luther King, Jr. and Nina Simone, Wednesday Morning, 10AM-12 Noon EDT!!!

Huge show on today’s “Theme Attic” with Phil Maq from 10AM-12 Noon EDT!!!

The main emphasis will be on the historic anniversary of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s assassination that took place 50 years ago today. I will explore songs that touch on the man and events that surrounded him.

On a day such as this, it only seemed appropriate that Nina Simone should be inducted into the “Theme Attic Hall of Fame!”

And, on top of all of that, The Claudettes will be in town tomorrow night at Otus Supply in Ferndale. Johnny Iguana of The Claudettes will do an interview to talk about the show!!!

There’s a whole lot to cover and I will have the music to do that!

Other songs by artists on the show will include Jesse Cook, Sierra Hull, Eve of Eden Music, Scott Ainslie/Cattail Music, Ltd., I Don’t Trust Robots, Judy Banker, Jackson Browne, Darlingside, The Hangabouts, Windborne, Michael on Fire, Eddy Mitchell Officiel, Dan Hall, Peter Madcat Ruth, and maybe more!!! I will try to fit as many in as I can.

Tune in to 89.3 FM (89.3 WHFR.FM) in the Dearborn-Detroit area, or stream it with our new improved stream: https://whfr.fm/streamer/ or use Tune In Player to stream it.

Phil’s Faves Albums: March 25, 2018

Over time, my listening habits have changed and at the moment I usually listen to albums completely through. I haven’t done that in years, but it’s actually very rewarding—particularly when the album is good. Every album that will be on this list will fit that category.

Songs from the albums on this list forms the basis of my countdown list for the “Top 9 at 9:09” segment of my “Prime Time Theme Attic Show,” (Mondays, 8P-10P ET) on alternating weeks, along with my “Phil’s Faves, Songs” lists!

They may also turn up on my “Theme Attic Show,” (Wednesdays, 10A-12N ET)

Here’s a link:

Listen live: www.whfr.fm/images/stream_audio.html

It’s another peak into my listening habits—which is a goal of mine. If you want to know where I’m heading or what I think about some new music, you will find it here.

I honestly don’t expect there to be much volatility on this list because these albums are what I have been basing many of the sets on my show.

Once again, there will be no boundaries. I will go wherever my musical muse takes me.

Phil’s Faves: Songs, March 25, 2018

This is a weekly Top Ten list of what I consider to be the best songs that I listened to the previous week. Most songs will be current, but there are no boundaries. I’ve already stated on this web site that I am obsessed with music. I am constantly hunting it down whether it’s online, on CD, from my personal collection, from a library (Yes, I think the library is a great source of music–especially for music that you aren’t sure about.), TV, or radio. Since most of these sources mostly emphasize new music, the odds are pretty good that most of the songs on this list will be new. But in my search, I don’t use any boundaries for the other sources. I am just looking for good music that I haven’t heard, or happened to forget about. Everyone, including myself, has forgotten way more great music than they can ever remember-even if they are also music fanatics.

Also, there will be no rules concerning songs on this list. A song can show up or drop off a number of times. This will be the most volatile of my lists. It all depends on how much music I am exposed to during the week and what I find interesting. On really obscure stuff, I will try to include the source, if I know it.

Most of the songs heard on this list have been played on my radio shows, “Theme Attic,” heard Wednesdays, 10A-12N ET, or “Prime Time Theme Attic,” heard Mondays, 8P-10P ET!

This list forms the basis of my countdown list on the “Top 9 at 9:09” segment of my “Prime Time Theme Attic Show” on alternating weeks, along with my “Phil’s Faves, Albums” lists!

Normally, I think that the annual “Fools, Sillies, and Bach” show is big enough. But oh, no. This year there’s more events going on, so I had to expand the show! So Wednesday morning’s “Theme Attic” with Phil Maq from 10AM-12 Noon EDT, will also feature Opening Day, the Blue Moon which is also this year’s “Sap Moon,” and Maple Syrup!

Whew!

Songs by artists on the show will include Ball Park Music, Denny McLain, Wendy Carlos, Angela Perley & The Howlin’ Moons, The Claudettes, American Housewife, Dave Caruso Music, I Don’t Trust Robots, Kevin Fisher, John Fogerty, Swamp Cabbage, Brenda Lee Official, Michel Legrand, PDQ Bach, Frank Sinatra, Jehova Waitresses, Jessica Dayle, Roger Clyne & The Peacemakers, and more!!!

“Prime Time Theme Attic” Revisits March 23, 1966, Monday Night, 8PM-10PM EDT!!!

Every now and then, when someone posts a record guide from way back when, I like to do a full blown countdown! Monday night on “Prime Time Theme Attic” with Phil Maq from 8PM-10PM EDT, I’ll do the WKNR guide for March 23, 1966–52 years ago!!!

The record guide is a nice snapshot of musical history. It’s fun to see where well known songs were on the list, but I’m more interested in the ones I don’t know or can’t remember. Either way, when you play the whole list–which will be a challenge for a two hour show, everything mixes together in a beautiful “Theme Attic” way!

I will also play a newer song by Eileen Carey, and a new song by Altan,, as well as classic songs by Paul Revere & The Raiders, Simon & Garfunkel (pictured in the banner), Herb Alpert and The Tijuana Brass, The Who (pictured in the banner), The Shadows of Knight, Cher, and many more!!!

Ironically, both The Beatles and The Rolling Stones are NOT on this list!

Tune in to 89.3 FM (89.3 WHFR.FM) in the Dearborn-Detroit area, and you’ll have to use Tune In Player to stream it.
